The Coffee We Pour, and the Folks Behind It

There are a few things we're particular about here at The Skiff House. The tide chart on the wall stays current. The rods get rinsed. And the coffee. The coffee has to be worth waking up for.
That's why we're proud to brew 4WD Coffee, and we figured it was about time we told you their story.
Born in Texas, Built for the Wild

4WD Coffee started the way a lot of good things do... with two longtime friends, Brian and Cory, out of Houston, who shared a love of strong coffee and time spent outdoors. They set out with a simple goal: make a coffee that could keep up with a rugged lifestyle. As they put it, they wanted a coffee that could handle any terrain, just like the people who drink it.
Every blend they roast is a love letter to a piece of Texas. Caprock Mesa nods to the rugged escarpment of the Panhandle. Blue Hill honors the bluebonnet fields of the Hill Country. Lajitas Oasis carries the cinnamon-and-chocolate warmth of far West Texas.
And then there's the one we pour here.
Aransas Tide - Our House Roast
It felt almost too fitting. A coffee named for the Aransas coast, brewed at a place built around skiffs, shallow water, and early mornings on the bay.
Aransas Tide is a medium roast made from 100% Arabica beans. It's earthy, chocolaty, and a little malty, with a smooth finish that goes down easy whether you're rigging up before first light or settling onto the porch after a long day on the water. It's organic, pesticide-free, and sustainably sourced, which matters to us the same way healthy flats and clean water do. You don't get to love a place and not take care of it.
We're not the only ones partial to it, it's a favorite of some of the most respected fly fishing guides on the Texas coast. Good company to keep.
Coffee That Gives Back

Here's the part that sealed it for us. 4WD isn't just roasting good coffee... they're using it to do some good.
Through their Adopt-A-Firehouse program, they're on a mission to keep local fire stations stocked with fresh, quality coffee, fueling the folks who show up for their communities every single day. Every bag they sell helps make that happen. That's the kind of business we want to stand behind.
Pour a Cup, Stay a While
So the next time you're at The Skiff House and you smell that pot brewing in the kitchen, know there's a story in your cup... two friends from Houston, a deep love for Texas, and a tide-inspired roast that found its way to exactly the right place.
