Coast Life: A Few of Our Favorite Ways to Spend a Day in Rockport

One of the best things about staying at Reel 'em Inn is that you don't have to plan much.

The bay is right outside your door. The coffee tastes a little better by the water. And somehow, the days seem to move at exactly the pace they're supposed to.

Still, if you're looking to explore a little, here are a few of our favorite ways to spend a day in Rockport.

Start on the Pier

Most mornings around here begin the same way.

A cup of coffee. A walk down the pier. Maybe a cast or two before breakfast.

Our private 1,000-foot fishing pier stretches out into Aransas Bay and is reserved exclusively for guests. Whether you're chasing trout and redfish or simply watching the sun come up over the water, it's one of our favorite places on the property.

And if you're serious about fishing, local guides can pick you up right from the pier. Not a bad way to start the day.

Get Out on the Water

Rockport has always been a water town.

Spend the morning wade fishing the flats, exploring the shoreline by kayak, or cruising the bay with a local guide. Aransas Bay offers some of the best inshore fishing on the Texas coast, but you don't need a rod in your hand to appreciate it.

Sometimes the best afternoons are the ones spent floating.

If you need recommendations for guides, kayak rentals, or paddleboards, just ask. We're always happy to point guests toward our local favorites.

Slow Down and Explore Town

One thing visitors notice pretty quickly is that Rockport doesn't feel rushed.

Golf carts cruise the streets. People wave. Nobody seems to be in much of a hurry.

Take an afternoon to wander downtown, browse the art galleries, grab a drink on a patio, or explore a few local shops. Stop by the waterfront, visit Fulton Mansion, or spend some time at the Texas Maritime Museum.

The best part? You can discover most of it without a plan.

Spend an Afternoon at the Beach

Just a few minutes from the Inn, Rockport Beach offers calm water, soft sand, and plenty of room to relax.

It's one of the most family-friendly beaches on the Texas coast and perfect for an easy afternoon in the sun. Bring a chair, a cooler, and nowhere else you need to be.

That's usually enough.

End the Day Where You Started

As much as we love everything Rockport has to offer, our favorite part of the day is usually coming back to the Inn.

Fire up the grill. Open something cold. Watch the sky turn shades of orange and gold over Aransas Bay.

Maybe catch a fish. Maybe don't.

Either way, you're doing it right.

That's coast life.

And that's why we love it here. Check availability and book your stay.
