Fishing in Rockport: What You Can Catch from Our Private Pier

There's a reason Rockport calls itself a fishing town. Aransas Bay is shallow, grassy, and full of life — and at Reel 'em Inn, you don't even have to leave the property to get a line wet. Our private pier is for guests only, open whenever you are.
What's Biting
Aransas Bay is best known for the "Texas slam": speckled trout, redfish, and flounder. Depending on the season, you might also tie into black drum, sheepshead, or skipjack right off the pier. Live shrimp under a popping cork is the local default, but soft plastics work the grass flats just fine.
When to Go
Early morning and the last hour of light are prime. Spring and fall bring the most consistent action, but this is the Texas coast — something is biting twelve months a year. Moving water beats slack tide, so check a tide chart (or ask us; we keep an eye on it).
What to Bring
A medium spinning rod, a handful of jig heads and soft plastics, and a Texas fishing license (anyone 17 or older needs one — easy to buy online or at local tackle shops). Forgot something? Rockport has several well-stocked bait and tackle shops within a five-minute drive.
Pier Rules, Kept Simple
Make memories, not messes — no fish guts left behind. No lifeguard on duty, so keep an eye on the kids. And the pier is for Inn guests only: use your gate code and shut it behind you.
