Hand-painted sign, blue-and-white planters, and a “Yes we’re open” in the window. You can’t miss it.
There’s a little shop over on South Church Street that doesn’t sell a single flower.

What it does sell, though, might be some of the freshest shrimp on the Texas coast.
Flowers Shrimp Market is named for the woman who started it - Flower herself. The story goes that she began selling shrimp from her front yard more than twenty years ago. Word spread the way good things tend to in a town like Rockport, and over time that front-yard hustle became the small local market so many people know and love today.
The shrimp are the draw, of course fresh off the boat, sized from respectable to downright jumbo, and priced by people who genuinely want you to come back. Depending on the day’s catch, you’ll often find fresh fish in the case as well.
But ask a local, and many will point you to the sleeper favorite: the homemade shrimp egg rolls. The ingredients are ground pork, shrimp, onion, carrots, taro, glass noodles and spices sold frozen by the dozen and crisp up beautifully at home. They’ve developed a loyal following, with plenty of people making the trip to Rockport just to stock up.
And maybe that’s what we love most about places like Flowers. They remind us that some of life’s best experiences aren’t complicated.
They’re simple. A good meal, fresh air, a little salt on your skin an d time with people you care about.
That idea sits at the heart of Reel ’em Inn.
When we set out to restore this property and create The Skiff House, we weren’t trying to build something flashy or overdone. We wanted to create a place that helps people slow down and reconnect with family, with friends, and with the kind of moments that are easy to miss in everyday life.
We believe the simple life is often the richest one.
It looks like coffee on the patio as the sun comes up over Aransas Bay.It sounds like laughter around the outdoor kitchen. It feels like bare feet on the dock, a fishing pole in hand, and nowhere else you need to be.
So if you’re staying with us, here’s our suggestion.
Stop by Flowers and pick up a bag of shrimp and a dozen egg rolls. Head back to Reel ’em Inn and fire up the grill. Open something cold and watch the sun start to fall over the water.
No reservations. No rush. No agenda.
Just dinner by the bay and this is about as Rockport as it gets and exactly the kind of experience we hope you take home with you.
