When we purchased Reel 'em Inn, we weren't thinking about magazine features or design awards.

We were thinking about preserving a special piece of Rockport.

What started as a shared vision among friends became an 11-month renovation project, countless weekends on the property, and eventually the waterfront motel you see today.

Since reopening, we've been humbled by the attention Reel 'em Inn has received from writers, travelers, and designers across Texas. We're grateful for every guest who has stayed with us and every publication that has taken the time to share our story.

Here are a few of our favorite mentions.

Texas Monthly

When Texas Monthly published its guide to Rockport, senior editor Courtney Bond highlighted Reel 'em Inn as her preferred place to stay.

She noted the property's coastal design, thoughtful details, and the connection to the bay that guests experience from the moment they arrive.

We're honored to be included in one of Texas' most respected publications. Read the story

The Austin Chronicle

The Austin Chronicle featured Reel 'em Inn in its Day Trips series, sharing the story of the property's restoration and the transformation of a classic 1950s motor court into a modern waterfront retreat.

The article captured something we care deeply about: preserving the character of the original property while creating a place people genuinely enjoy spending time. Read the column

The Bend Magazine

The Bend Magazine told the story behind the project itself.

Three families. One incredible fishing pier. A belief that the property deserved another chapter.

The feature dives into the history of the Inn, the renovation process, and the vision that guided the project from day one. Read the feature

Designed by Lake Flato Architects

One of the things we're most proud of is the work completed by the talented team at Lake Flato Architects.

Their thoughtful approach helped preserve the spirit of Reel 'em Inn while creating spaces that feel connected to the water, the landscape, and the history of the Texas coast.

The property is featured in Lake Flato's hospitality portfolio, and we're honored to be part of their work.. See the project

The Best Part Is Still the Guests

While we're thankful for the recognition, what matters most to us are the memories being made here every week.

Families gathering on the pier.

Friends reconnecting around the outdoor kitchen.

Early mornings on the bay and sunsets over the water.
