The Perfect Weekend in Rockport, Texas: A 48-Hour Itinerary

Rockport runs on a different clock. Here's how to spend 48 hours the way the locals would — slow mornings, salt air, and no alarm clocks required.
Friday Evening
Check in (keyless entry — your room's ready when you are), drop your bags, and head straight to the pier for sunset. Fire up the outdoor kitchen for dinner, or cruise into town for fresh Gulf seafood. End the night with a cold one in the courtyard.
Saturday
Morning: Coffee from your in-room Nespresso, then a few casts off the pier while the bay is glassy. Or rent a kayak or paddleboard and explore the shoreline.
Afternoon: Walk Rockport Beach — one of the only Blue Wave-certified beaches in Texas — then browse the local shops and galleries downtown. Rockport has a real art colony streak; you'll find more than t-shirt shops here.
Evening: Rent a golf cart and join the slow parade around town. Dinner on a patio, dog optional but encouraged.
Sunday
Morning: Drive out to Goose Island State Park to see the Big Tree, a coastal live oak that's been standing for roughly a thousand years. Birders: bring binoculars — the whole area is a flyway hotspot, and whooping cranes winter nearby.
Before you go: Tour the Fulton Mansion or the Texas Maritime Museum, grab lunch, and squeeze in one last walk on the pier. Late checkout? Ask — we'll do our best.
